We stand to preserve the traditional and cultural uses of Great Lake.

Friends of Great Lake has been created to preserve current access and traditional uses of the yingina/Great Lake area, lobby to prevent any future development which is identified as being contrary or detrimental to the current access and use of the yingina/Great Lake area.

Friends of Great Lake is a representative group of the people that visit regularly or live at Great Lake. We are a family friendly association where any topics of concern in the area can be tabled for discussion and acted upon if deemed needed.

By becoming a financial member you will be part of an informative group with common concerns, and therefore a larger collective voice on current issues, including but not restricted to the “Adventure Trail”.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

The Great Lake “Adventure Trail”

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Dream it.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Build it.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

  • "A major attraction to the highlands is the peace and quiet, the ability to remove yourself from the crowd and sit in relative solitude. Let’s keep it this way we’ve commercialised more than enough of our state." Andrew Spencer

  • "There are few more beautiful places than the Central Plateau, it's pristine beauty. That's the way it should remain. People enjoy it for that very reason!" - Rod Booker

  • "The lake is an international icon for fishing. A bike track so close to the lake will create noise and vibration, driving the fish to deeper water, hence shore fishing will no longer be an attractive way of successful fishing." - David Roberts

  • "Let’s continue to keep this beautiful area for hunting and fishing as it has been enjoyed for many generations before us, I would love to pass on the same hunting and fishing experiences to my boys as they have been enjoyed by my grandfathers, father and myself." - Bec McCullagh
